Coincidentally, while flying here yesterday the following little funny came by email from old friend and AC hand Dick Enersen (SEA and SFO, sailor on the 1964 Cup defender Constellation), apropos weekends in NYC -- and the Hamptons (where, after posting this, I will not be headed, nor probably welcome, anytime soon! LOL):
Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days. On the seventh day, God was found by an angel, resting. The angel inquired of God, "Where have you been, Lord?"
God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downward through the clouds. "Look what I've made."
The angel looked puzzled and asked, "But what is it?"
"It's a planet," replied God. "I'm going to put life on it and call it Earth. It's going to be a great place of balance."
"Balance?" inquired the angel, still confused.
God explained, pointing to different parts of the earth, "Some places will be very hot while others will be cold and covered with ice. Some will have beautiful snow-capped mountains and lush green meadows, while others will be barren and brown."
The angel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a large island with an ocean on one of its borders and asked, "What's that?"
"Ah," said God, "that's where The Hamptons will be, the most glorious place on earth, with beautiful beaches, ponds, birds and a great climate. The people of The Hamptons are going to be modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to be found traveling the world. They will be extremely sociable, hard working, and high achieving people, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace."
The angel gasped in wonder and admiration, but then exclaimed, "What about balance, God? You said there would be balance! Everyone and everything seems so totally perfect in this place you call The Hamptons."
God replied wisely, "Yes, but just wait until you see the jerks I'm sending out there from New York City every summer!"

USA 49 arriving in the Big Apple Friday evening. Will be posting to the Team Blog all week from NYC. If you are in the area, come have a look at 49 and the terrific AC exhibit that will be at Rockefeller Center 15 June through 2 July.
